TOUR DESCRIPTION: Enjoy a scenic drive to the
city of Victoria to Fort Rodd Hill and Fisguard
Light house National Historical Site. Once we
arrive a site guide will greet us and take us
on a tour. Fort Rodd Hill is one of the worlds's
best preserved - and most complete examples of
it's kind. Consisting entirely of original structures,
with minimal restoration. From 1878 to 1956 it
was a system of artillery positions guarding
the Victoria and Esquimalt Harbour. The Fisguard
Light house is nationally important as the first
lighthouse on Canada's rocky West Coast since
1860. You will see the entire fort and tour the
lighthouse. After the tour we will have a picnic
lunch before boarding the Coach to Hatley Castle
and Gardens. Arriving at the castle you will
have a site guided tour around the Castle and
Gardens This beautiful castle was completed in
1908, James Dunsmuir commissioned Samuel Maclure,
a Victorian architect to design the Castle. Local
stone and Saturna Island sandstone was used in
the construction. The estate now serves as the
Royal Roads University. These picturesque locations
both have spectacular views of the Juan de Fuca
Strait and the Olympic Mountains
