HORNE LAKE CAVES
LEVEL
OF ACTIVITY: 2/3 Moderate/Strenuous Activity
TOUR DESCRIPTION: Calling all
you cavers! Vancouver Island has some amazing
caves and cave systems. Horne Lake Caves Provincial
Park has been voted the #1Best Natural Outdoor
Site in British Columbia! On our guided tour by
a Horne Lake Cave expert to the Riverbend cave
where access is only permitted by guided tours
you will see some amazing timeless cave and crystal
formations. This cave was closed to the public
in the 1970’s to stop any vandalism from
occurring. Certain crystal formations are estimated
to be thousands of years old. Your guide’s
commentary also includes geology and history of
the local caves. After exploring the Riverbend
cave, there are two other caves to explore non-guided
at your leisure. We will enjoy our snacks on the
beach picnic site at Horne Lake.
